Art Gommers

Adrianus (“Art”) G.T.A. Gommers grew up and was educated in the Netherlands. After his graduation from the Rotterdam Engineering College, he immigrated to Rhodesia in 1958 to work for Anglo American in the Rhodesian Copper Belt, as an underground engineer, shift boss and mine captain. From 1969, Mr. Gommers held various management positions in the construction industry, until he was appointed the Managing Director of the SSM Coal Group in 1979, where he was responsible for business development and, later, for Latin American trade, based in Bogotá. Together with others, Mr. Gommers founded Inter-American Coal and served as President until February 2012.
